Meet the Author: Federico Bertolucci

In a comic book, images are indissolubly linked to text, but the expressive power of a drawing always prevails over that of writing; it doesn't need to be deciphered and has the ability to touch primal chords, unconsciously influencing our emotions. It can emphasize a dialogue or reveal its true nature. A purely visual work, therefore, allows for a more intimate and free interpretation, where the only form of language is that of the director, who, through the choice of framing, color, performance, and narrative rhythm, guides the 'reader/viewer' on a truly iconic journey.
