The Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Russia is the guest of honor for SIBF, and Korea is the honorary guest country of the Moscow International Book Fair.
Under the theme, "Read Deep. Read Smart. Read Russia,” there will be various readers’ programs and expert programs. First of all, there is a program to introduce cities including Moscow and Vladivostok via “contactfree” method. The “5+5” joint publishing project between Korea and Russia includes works of classic and contemporary authors such as CHAE Man-sik, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn, PAK Kyong-ni, and KIM Young-ha.
Moreover, there will be interview with eleven authors including Igor Oleynikov, who is a well- known author in the area of children and YA picture book in Russia. The eleven authors have diverse backgrounds such as literature, children’s book, and fantasy novel. The program will be also joined by Sergei Lukyanenko, who is the author of Night Watch that has become a box office hit. Also, Lyudmila Ulitskaya (winner of the Russian Booker Prize), and Grigory Sluzhitel (actor, musician, and author) will join the readers in Korea to demonstrate the present and the future of the Russian culture.
