Kim Gu at 150: A Special Exhibition Celebrating the 2026 UNESCO Anniversary (Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs × Seoul International Book Fair)

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Baekbeom Kim Gu, designated as a UNESCO anniversary in 2026, the Seoul International Book Fair presents a special exhibition in collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.

This interactive exhibition reintroduces the life, philosophy, and enduring message of Baekbeom Kim Gu through “My Wish” from Baekbeom Ilji (Baekbeom’s Autobiography). At the Seoul International Book Fair—a vibrant cultural space that embodies the “power of a highly cultured nation” envisioned by Kim Gu—visitors are invited to engage with his words and reinterpret them in their own language.

The exhibition particularly highlights how Kim Gu, amid a time of profound upheaval, forged his path by recording and affirming his convictions through writing. After reading “My Wish,” visitors can create their own personal declaration, reflecting on the future they hope for, the values they cherish, and the direction they wish to pursue in life. More than simply observing a historical figure’s aspirations, visitors will experience firsthand the power of writing and discover how a single sentence can become a meaningful act of cultural expression.

※ Participatory Program: Write Your Own Declaration
※ Visitors who participate in the program will receive a “My Wish” soap gift on a first-come, first-served basis.
